Fun Time Creating with My Buddy Quiana

Yesterday, Quiana and I were both able to take some time out of our busy schedules and have a mini crop at my house. We had a wonderful time and Quiana created 3 adorable cards. While I was available for technical help, I had no creative input on these cards. This was Quiana's first time using Stickles and the Cuttlebug and she had caught the bug no doubt. Take a look at her creations.

My love of crafting meets my love of couponing!

These sliders were inspired by a video from my pink stamper and custom crops. This is the perfect gift for my extended family. I have a ton of Swiss Miss from a catalina coupon deal from Jewel and Target currently has a deal with Swiss Miss this week too. So needless to say, I was able to make this cute little cocoa favor with everything I already had on hand. WOOHOO. Besides, I am too sick to go out anyway. I hope you like.

Sorry for Not Posting Yesterday.

I want to apologize to my 3...well actually 2 followers of my blog. There was a bit of drama yesterday and I did not get a chance to make a card. There were two guys that were trying to break into my house, THANK GOD!!!!!! my mom saw them as she was driving by and confronted the one kid (he looked about 14-15 years old). I am so proud of my mom...but I am also very thankful to God that she wasn't hurt. One of the guys was arrested...but he was a young guy, with his whole life to look forward to why do something stupid like this. I pray for the guys that were doing wrong...it is sad that they feel this acceptable in society to take from others. I pray that they realize there is more out there than breaking in people's houses. I have to remember to thank God everyday for all of my blessings and for keeping a constant watch over me and my family.

However, before all the drama I did remake the one from Wednesday with the yellow dots like I wanted to, but it still looks off...so I am not going to post it. I should have a card for you guys tonight. If you want you can check out my friends blog.... http://www.euqinu2-myxcitinglife.blogspot.com. She is just starting out with blogging like me and has made some awesome projects. Enjoy! Thanks for checking out my blog today!

My Card for Today...

Sorry it is late. Those of you (Quiana) who follow my other blog know about my coupon craziness and how Super K-Mart's Double Coupon Event can disrupt the lives of couponers everywhere.
I LOVE the colors in this card...except the two gray dots with the sentiment. I think if I were to redo this card, I would make the circles at the top yellow or light green instead. I may do a remake of this one tomorrow to see how it looks. As usual, I used my Papertreyinc card stock as the base. I also used the Scrapbook Kit Paper Birthday Polka Dot Paper. The ribbon is from Joann and the stamp is from Stampin' Up. I believe it is retired, it says 2004 on the block. I bought it on eBay a few months back. I hope you like it.

Two Card Tuesday...lol

Happy Tuesday Everyone! I made two cards for today. The first one was so easy and simple I thought I would make one more.

I love this first card. It was so simple, I could make another one in the time it would take me to just pick one out at the store. It is smaller than my other cards, it is 4" by 3 1/2". I used my cuttlebug to emboss the flowers on the front. I then use an inch wide strip of patterned paper from the Joann.com Scrapbook Kit in a Stack BABY. Then added a bow with yellow ribbon from JoAnn's and a Marcella by K Dimensional sticker I got Target about a year ago on clearance. Simple, yet elegant.

For the second one, I used two different Cricut cartridges, my SKS BABY paper, card stock from Papertrayink and JoAnn's, stickles, teal ink pad, my Fiskars edge punch and my corner rounder. First, I used Graphically Speaking to cut the word friend, set at 3 1/4 using the jumbled feature. Second, I used the Accent Essentials Cartridge that came with my machine to cut out the two small flowers at the top. I used a teal ink pad to color the letters and stickles for the center of the flowers. Third, I arranged it on the SKS BABY paper and adhered it to the mint green card stock. Fourth, I used my Fiskars edge punch...which is really hard to use on thick cardstock and my cheap corner rounder I got at JoAnn's. Last, to add a little background I added a light yellow piece of card stock to the inside of the card.

Purple and Stickles...Wooohooo

I made this card last night and I was really excited about posting it this morning. I used purple...which is my favorite color and stickles...which is my favorite thing right now. I used Cricut Cartridge "Doodlecharms" for the dragonfly.

My inspiration for this card was The Pink Stamper. I was watching some of her old videos again and decided to do something purple with a dragonfly. My friend and I LOVE Robyn, The Pink Stamper. I am so glad my friend, Quiana found her site and shared it with me. We joked that I would be the Purple Stamper and she would be the Orange Stamper. Not that any of my cards are even at the level of hers, but I just admire her gift and am thankful she shares it with all of us. Robyn has also given me the courage I need to share my work. Her videos show me basic things like measurements for a card, how to tie a bow, and don't be afraid to try. She also informs me of different products and tools that help make crafting easy and fun. Yes, we have Robyn to thank for my stickles craziness. If you have not seen her blog, PLEASE, PLEASE check it out. You will love it! http://thepinkstamper.blogspot.com/

On another note, I posted the purplish flower card on the cricut message board. When I signed up for the Cricut Message board in November 2007. I would look in amazement at the cards and layouts that the ladies would post, too ashamed to post anything of my own. But I finally posted the purple flower card that I am so proud of and I feel AWESOME! I am still nowhere near as talented as the ladies on the message board, but I am sure I am not the only one who is intimidated by their AMAZING talent. So here is my place to post and share.

Another Card

I thought I would make a quick card. Another basic card, using Papertrayinc card stock as the base. I cut the 8 1/2 by 11 card stock in half (4 1/4 by 5 1/2) and added the other paper and ribbon. I used the "Beyond Birthdays" Cricut Cartridge to cut the "Laugh Often" using the oval option. It was cut at 6 1/2. I was going to scale it down...but I had already cut 2 smaller ones that didn't look big enough.

I have to admit I do not like this one as much as the one with the flower, but it is starting to grow on me. I think I could have left off the 3 dots at the bottom with the stickles...but I LOVE stickles. I am going to have to find a more constructive way to use them.

Happy 4th Everyone!

While I am waiting to get my space together, I decided to make something. I made two cards. Here they are...

The first on is my favorite. I used the Cricut Cartridge, "Walk in my Garden." to make the flower. The beautiful pattern paper that I have had for over 3 years now, that I got at Costco was my inspiration. The maroon front part of the card was made with thin, cheap card stock from JoAnn (compared to the card stock from Papertreyink) and the pink ribbon also was from JoAnn. But the base of the card and the stamp was from Papertreyink.com. For the sentiment, I used the frost white ink pad from Color Box. To add the final touch, I added cotton candy stickles on the flower. I love the stickles. That was a wise purchase.

This one looks okay. Again, I used pattern paper that I have had for over 3 years now that I got at Costco. The front part of the card was made with thin, cheap card stock (compared to the card stock from Papertreyink) and ribbon from JoAnn. But the base of the card and the stamps were from Papertreyink.com. I used the stickles again, because I loved them on the first card, but I think it kind of messed this one up. Oh well. I am still happy with it.

A Good Crafter Needs a Space.

A good crafter needs a space. Nothing spectacular just a place to put their supplies and feel comfortable. I was just on YouTube and see some people are blessed to have a full basement or an available bedroom/office as their crafting space. That would be wonderful to have... unfortunately like many, I do not have that much room to spare. However, I am lucky. I do have part of my bedroom that I can use as my new crafting cove. I am on a tight budget, so I have only allowed $35.00 and any spare change I can round up for the project (this does include checking the couch cushions);-). The great thing is last summer I bought paint for my bedroom and was too busy/lazy to get the job done. So I will have to get creative and scrounge up some free labor to get the room painted, use and reuse many of hundreds of containers that I have bought over the years in thoughts of getting my room organized.

I would like to think I am creative.

I would like think of myself as creative and maybe I am. But then I watch some of the videos out there of these AMAZING women and the cards and scrapbook pages they create and I begin to doubt myself. There is no way I could make anything close to their creations. I am sad when I think of the money I have spent on the machines, the accessories, stickers, hole punches, stamps, paper, and anything else I thought I needed to be a good Crafter and I have yet to create anything. I want to create...I just do not know where to start. About 18 months ago I got the Cricut Expression for Christmas. I would break it out here and there to mess around with it, but I have only made a few things. This a blog about my journey to become a card maker and scraper. Please follow along with me as I venture to use my Cricut and Create. I have named this blog, "Cricut for the Those of us that Creatively Challanged." I want this blog to help inspire and show that we can all be creative, if we just try.
